When the quiet fields of peace
seem elusive and so far away,
Take a moment
to give some of your time to Spirit.
Let her carry it
around this aching world
around this aching world
and spread your gift far and wide.
When it is returned
you will feel your light,
once barely able to make a firefly glow,
now holding a brilliance
large enough
to lead you out of darkness
out of this broken world.
Sometimes a thousand years are saved
by a simple act of love.

So moved by this piece Sherrie. I ended up here through a variety of indirect searches relating to the Pullman hotel where I am holding a mixed media event next May. My friend attends the Pen show every year and somehow I found you. Your poem resonates in my heart because of my work with women both in the art world and in the world of domestic violence where I work with women in crisis.
